National Reconciliation Week 2024
This year, we again supported National Reconciliation Week with two morning teas during the week. Using traditional Indigenous ingredients, we enjoyed home baked Aniseed Myrtle Shortbread and Wattleseed Chocolate Biscuits, for staff to help themselves and further understand the importance of country to our First Australians peoples. Aniseed Myrtle and Wattleseed both contain their own healing properties and health benefits and tasted delicious!
We also participated in Show Your Support Day – SHOWING our support of First Australians people, by wearing black, yellow and red clothing or accessories, or our favourite Indigenous fashion!
Finally, staff were also encouraged to complete fun activities of either/and a quiz or word search, with prizes of course!
As we continue our personal and business Reconciliation journeys, we are committed to being a voice for generations and moving forward together.
R U OK? Day
On Thursday 14th of September, our office again recognised and supported
R U OK? Day, with a barbecue lunch,
Walk and Talk and
Bake or Buy activities for our staff and owners, and a continued effort to look out for and look after each other, as well as our friends and family.
This includes practicing kindness and contributing to society, recruiting staff who are inclusive, authentic and empathetic, and continuing to provide a safe and supportive workplace.
We had a fantastic day and really do, have a terrific team here at Westralian Insurance!
We recently recognised and supported R U OK? Day on Thursday September 8th, with our Perth based team!
Along with wearing the R U OK? colours of yellow and black, we engaged with each other with walks around the block, special notes and treats, along with lunch together and a continued commitment to always provide a safe and supportive workplace for one other.
Everybody embraced the day and the vibe in the office was fantastic!
We look forward to supporting and engaging with R U OK? again next year.
Kwobardak Netball Partnership
Westralian Insurance were recently presented with a great opportunity to build on our reconciliation actions and sponsor the Kwobardak (meaning pretty/beautiful in English) netball club.
Four Kwobardak teams participated in the recent NAIDOC Netball Carnival at Perth Netball Centre and these Under 18 girls came home Runners Up, losing the Grand Final by just 1 goal! The atmosphere was fantastic and the games were thrilling to watch!
We are so proud to be involved with the Kwobardak family and look forward to the future.
This is moving forward together.
